해외 거래처에 영어 메일로 공휴일 공지하기 

한 두가지 표현을 정리해보았다.

먼저 메일 제목은 [HOLIDAY NOTICE] 휴일공지

그리고 본문은..

예1)

Dear Colleagues, (혹은 Dear Sirs,)

Please be advised that due to the National Holidays in Korea our office will be closed (해당 날짜)

Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation.

Best regards,

자기 이름

예2)

(우리 회사 이름) will be closed on the following dates: (<< 하루가 아니라 복수인 경우)
-       휴일 이름 (날짜)
 
(우리 회사 이름) will be closed on:                                                                                              
-      휴일 이름 (날짜) 

Dear Sirs:

Please be informed that the (회사이름) will be closed on (휴일이름) (날짜)

With best regards,

(본인 이름, 회사이름 등)

 

실전문제 (?)

위 예를 이용해서 다가오는 2021년 첫 공휴일 설날(2월 11일 13일)을 예를 들어보면 

Dear Colleagues, 

Please be advised that due to the National Holidays in Korea our office will be closed from February 11, 2021 to February 13, 2021.

Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation.

한편, 여기서 설날이라는 것을 강조하고 싶다면?

설날의 영어 표현

일단 설날을 영어로 하자면 가장 흔한 표현은 Chinese New Year인데, 중국 새해라는 것.. 사실 해외에서는 중국인들이 워낙 많고 설날을 꽤 요란하게(?) 치르기 때문에 외국인들에게도 잘 알려져있는 것 같다.

New Year과는 달리 음력이기 때문에 그냥 New Year로 쓸수는 없는데, 하지만 우리는 한국인데 굳이 Chinese를 쓰기 싫다면? 아니 싫다기보다 한국에서 왜 중국 명절을 지키지? 하는 혼란을 줄 수도 있을 것 같아서..

Lunar (음력)이라는 표현도 가능. Lunar New Year.

혹은 아예 한국만의 것을 강조하고 싶다면 한글 발음인 설날 Seollal, or Korean Lunar New Year 이런 식으로도 가능할 듯 하다.

Please be advised that our office will be closed from February 11, 2021 to February 13, 2021 for Lunar New Year holiday.
